5 Things to Do on a Rainy Day in Paisley
I have fallen in love with my new hometown over the past nine months. Daily, I find myself admiring the architecture, various quirky and random art installations and the sweeping views from the various trails.
If you're planning a day-trip to Paisley and the weather isn't cooperating, there's still enough to take in to fill your day.

1. Nature's Millworks
View the latest art exhibition & check out Ontario's largest restored mill at Nature's Millworks. This beautifully restored mill hosts a unique and diverse collection of work from artists within 50 km of Paisley in over 6000 sq feet on 3 levels. Visiting is free and always worth a stop as the collection changes throughout the year. The current "Repurposed with Purpose" show is on until September 13, 2020 and features paintings, reclaimed wood & tin items, textiles and more. In the gift shop, you'll also find a collection of children's books, local authors' works and more!
Find work from local artist, Ann Fauchon and more at the Elora Soap Company.
2. Visit our Unique Shops
In addition to the mill, Paisley boasts a unique collection of shops. Find handmade soap and skincare products, as well as artwork, gifts and more at the Elora Soap Company. Pastime Goldmine and the Paisley Pharmacy are home to games for kids and adults alike, delicious Reid's Chocolates and anything you might need for what ails you. You'll also find The Antique Shoppe, and opening soon, Roadrunner Collectibles, located next to Bonfire on Queen and Bud Rier’s Chevrolet.
The Bruce County Rail Trail can be accessed at the corner of Victoria & Alma Streets.
3. Go Fishing or Puddle Jump on the Rail Trail
Admittedly, you won't stay dry but you'll make memories! Fish bite in the rain, so why not take advantage of a wet day to try hooking a fish in the Saugeen? Bait can be purchased at the Midtown Food Mart and the Bruce County Library in Paisley loans out fishing poles. Note: Fishing off the mill dam is not allowed.
The rail trail is also a nice walk even in the rain. Bring your boots and rain pants and jump in the puddles while you enjoy the view from one of our two train bridges.
4. Chill at Bonfire
Come enjoy a lazy lunch in our cozy restaurant. We specialize in thin crust pizza and Italian-style comfort foods. We also serve locally roasted, fresh ground coffees if you're in need of a little caffeine boost. Cappuccino and cannoli anyone?
Not feeling down for pizza and looking to nosh on something different? Try the yellow curry, mango salad and spring rolls from Rak Thai Kitchen. Lin's authentic thai curries are mouthwatering good.
The collection at the Treasure Chest Museum was curated and donated by the Hagedorn family.
5. Take a Walk Back in Time at the Treasure Chest Museum
While not currently open due to Covid-19, the Treasure Chest Museum showcases a collections of artifacts and items from Paisley's past. Throughout town, you'll find many heritage buildings which are also detailed in the Heritage Walking Tour.
